ODBC creation using sybase driver fails

hmccoy-OracleSep 4 2002
I am trying to create an ODBC for a connection to a Sybase db, located on a Unix box, in order to migrate the db to Oracle. Hopefully, once the ODBC connection is established I can proceed with the migration using the MWB.

I've installed, in order, the Oracle client s/w, the Migration Workbench and the Sybase Adaptive Server ODBC Drivers on the desktop. Once the installations were completed I proceeded with creating an ODBC. I selected the Sybase Drive and entered the necessary DSN, description, server name and database in the dialog box.

Now, once the ODBC was created I proceeded with testing the ODBC by attempting to make a connection to the Sybase db using the supplied dialog box and receive the following error:

[SYBASE][ODBC SYBASE DRIVER]Invalid attribute in connection string:Description,[SYBASE][ODBC SYBASE DRIVER][SYBASE]ct_connection():user api layer:internal client library error:HAFAILOVER:trying to connect to server.

I have re-installed all of the products twice and tried various configurations of the ODBC but still receives the same error.

Help! This is not supposed to be this difficult.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Beau
