oci8 installation
414607Feb 10 2004 — edited Mar 12 2004Hi there,
I need to get PHP5.0 to work with Oracle 9i on a Red Hat 9.0 linux server.
The PHP being 5.0 is not a problem as far as known. What is a problem is that in order to do this, I need the file oci8.so, among probably others. Where do I find these, how can I install these?
As far as I know, I should install the Oracle client, but in order todo that, i need to install alot of extra things on my server (among which are X windows, JDK1.3, etc) and I do NOT want these unnecesary things on a completely clean server.
I only want to be able to access Oracle from PHP by using oci8. What do I need for this, and how can I get to this situation in an easy way without installing alot of unnecesary items?
thanks,
Otilia
