OCI.DLL is always in use, how to apply CUP?
burleighJul 27 2007 — edited Jul 27 2007Hello. My Win XP install of the Oracle 10.2.0.3 client needs the July security update. I've got the right opatch and the patch. But opatch fails because oci.dll is loaded in one of Windows's svchost processes. If I kill that process, another is started. MS DTS is off, so far as I can tell, no Oracle software is running. In fact, I've renamed oci.dll (but there are other varients in the bin directory) and restarted, yet OCI.DLL is still loaded. And oci.dll is not in Windows' dllcache, either.
How do I get this done? And moreover, why hasn't Oracle produced a patching process that's a little kinder to its users--this is consuming quite a bit of valuable time.
Thanks, all.
