OBIEE 12c with Active Directory

Sebastian F.Nov 30 2015 — edited Mar 3 2016

Hello all,

I tried to configure OBIIE 12c for Active Directory Authentication. There are some differences to previous releases (e.g no BISystemUser), so it seems that I cannnot use instructions/whitepaper for OBIEE 11. So I tried just to do similar...

First I created a new AuthenticationProvider in the web based admin console, marked it as sufficient and moved it to first place in the list of authentication providers. The default provider is also marked as sufficient.

So far it seems to work fine, cause I can request users and groups in the corresponding tab.

Then I used the enterprise manager to map AD groups to the existing application-roles for the bi domain. I was able there to retirieve the groups of the AD-Authenticator, so I thaught it will work. But login to analytics every time fails with the messages:

<oracle.webservices.jaxws> <BEA-000000> <Exception while executing the business logic: [BISecurity]

[oracle.bi.security.centaurus.GetSubjectAction::execute]  [OBI-SEC-00501] Could not find user "weblogic" in the Identity Store.>

It does not matter whether I use weblogic or any username of active directory, it end up in the sames message.

I additionally tried it with the DefaultAuthenticator as optional - no difference. Then I configured user.login.attr and username.attr - still the same failure.

Can anyone point me to any further needed configuration? Or is there already an whitepaper or something ales for OBIEE 12c?

Thanks in advance!

Sebastian
