I was recently asked to take on investigating how to get maps working in OBIEE.
I did some light research and from what I gather I need to familiarize myself with Map Viewer (which is a part of the OBIEE installation) as well as need to get spatial data in a database in order to get maps running.
Finally I can choose to "layer" Google maps on top.
My question is regarding spatial data. I see a lot of people mention samples of spatial data being downloaded.
Assuming that I get everything up and running, are there any "free" resources for spatial data for Canada? Or is it more advisable to purchase spatial data?
In either case, where can I go to find spatial data?
Excuse the slightly ignorant questions as I am newly looking into this, but out also out of curiosity with Google maps, is spatial data necessary? Or can just an address/zip code be used to map things?
Any insight appreciated.
