OBIEE 10.1.3.4 and Oracle 11g
700352May 13 2009 — edited May 18 2009I am a Newbie and hope I am following proper etiquette here.
I am running 64-bit Vista and have installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4 and it is working (thanks to the Jeff McQuigg post).
I then installed 11g and OBIEE does not connect to it and does not appear to have an 11g connection.
According to the documentation (System Requirements and Supported Platforms for Oracle® Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Version 10.1.3.3, 10.1.3.4, Rev. K April 2009),
11g is supported:
Supported Data Sources for Oracle Business Intelligence Server
Oracle Business Intelligence Server supports the data sources listed below in Table 14 for queries.
NOTE: 64-bit versions of the databases documented in Table 14 are supported.
Table 14. Supported Data Sources for the Oracle Business Intelligence Server
(Table 14 starting on page 29)
Oracle Database 11g4
(Enterprise Edition, Standard
Edition, Standard Edition One)
11.1.0.6.0 or higher Oracle native client OCI 11g/
Oracle native client 11g
(Note: Footnote 4 refers to AIX; I believe it is mislabelled and should be Footnote 5, which states: 5. For Oracle 9i and 10g databases, native client OCI 10g2 is recommended.)
However, when I try to create a connection pool there I can't connect to 11g and there doesn't appear to be a connection option for it.
Some of the other posts suggest I should install the 10g client. It seems to me that if 11g is certified, it should work with the 11g client, but I am willing to try this.
If I put in the 10g client:
- should I uninstall the 11g client software?
- Is there some document that shows me what else to do so that OBIEE uses this, or will using the 10g connector in the connection pool take care of this?
Thanks,
Donna
