Number Precision

Raavi NaveenAug 31 2012 — edited Sep 7 2012
Hi All,

I have a doubt as below.I have created a table with a column of type NUMBER(10,100). and trying to insert a record with a value >0. then it is giving error like 'SCALE IS MORE THAN PRECISION'. when i tried to insert a value 0 or 0.0 or 0.00 then it is allowing me to insert this record.

i don' t know , how it is considering 0 or 0.00 as a valid value. i feel 0 is also requires some space and it is also represented in binary form.

If this question is silly one, please don't scold me, and i am very sorry for wasting your time.

Regards
Naveen R.
