no service after listener port changed

I have oracle10g installed on Linux RHES 4.0.
everything worked fine after installation.
but i changed the default listener port from 1521 to 2000 after installation for security reasons.
then i restarted listener, database instance , and dbconsole.
but dbconsole is not able to find the listener and instance.
and i am not able to login remotely.
Looks like the change of port is not registered even after restarting the oracle processes.
How do i make this change of port work?
Can someone guide me please.
