No free undo space on database

Green DustMay 12 2017 — edited May 25 2017

OS : Solaris 5.10

Database Version : 11.2.0.4

No more undo space left on database, UNDOTBS2 size 2G and retention nogaurantee.

SQL> show parameter undo

NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE

------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------

undo_management                      string      AUTO

undo_retention                       integer     0

undo_tablespace                      string      UNDOTBS2

There is no active transaction on database.

SQL> select addr, SES_ADDR, USED_UBLK, USED_UBLK*16384/1024/1024 UNDO_USAGE_MB   from v$transaction

no rows selected.

But sill all the UNDO extents are UNEXPIRED and got the "ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS2'" error. The undo space not release for 2 days. had to create the new UNDO tablepsace and make it default.

Couldn't understand the UNDO behavior.
