NFS timeout: increasing NFSD_SERVERS

807559Jan 17 2005 — edited Jan 17 2005
Hi all

our NFS clients reports from time to time 'NFS Server not available" and sometimes later "Stale NFS file handle".

Under Solaris 8, increasing the max number of nfsd in /etc/init.d/nfs.server solved the problem.

Under Solaris 9, the same thing should be done in /etc/default/nfs setting NFSD_SERVERS=256. But this didn't help (yes, nsf.server were restartet, machine rebooted)

As I remember right, under Solaris 8, I saw several nfsd running. On my Solaris 9 box now I only see one /usr/lib/nfs/nfsd all the time
Is this a sign that only one nfsd is running ? The load of the NFS server is normaly < 0.5 (E420R, 4x450MHz).

Thanks
crose
