NFS 16 groups limit workaround OEL5

I am hitting a know issue with NFS, the access rights are not granted is the use is ins a group lower then the fist 16 in the group list [RFC 5531 - NFS 16-Group Limit Problem]

This is a long standing Linux bug without a real solution yet, the best optin seems to be to use 'rpc.mountd --manage-gids' but the '--manage-gid' option is not available in OEL5.

So I am looking for another solution for this problem, any one has experience with this problem and know a solution for this?
