New to Java

i have been learning java for a few weeks now and am understanding the fundamentals of it but am getting stuck on areas.

I am using an ebook to learn some of this stuff so the solutions to the exercises are not given which is causing more grey hairs per hour.

one exercise it to create a maze and have a mouse moving from the top of the maze down to the bottom.

i have some code from the forum which shows how to move a dot up the screen but how can a maze be incorporated into that design. i have created the maze and it shows on screen but can get the dot to move in the maze.
