Newbie Question about Scrambling Data

608596Nov 14 2007 — edited Nov 23 2007
Hi all

This is my first post but I have had an Oracle account for a few months. I am in the process of training up in Oracle technologies in my work and have been tasked with scrambling data on one of the DBs. This is the first time I have really encountered this type of task and have not had much success defining the process through net searches and in books.

This task came about due to the security auditor saying that name details in the table should be 'lightly' scrambled (now i'm a chef!). The table is not in a live database and among other things it comprises first name, forename, middlename and sex. It has ben suggested that I have to create another table to copy the data to.

So can anyone suggest my first port of call here, I just don't understand this too well as it is my first time doing this? I look forward to any suggestions.

Andrew
