Newbie: Need to install Java for Oracle SQL developer

At first i was not too sure which JAVA to install

trying to follow instructions from this link: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15846_01/doc.21/e15223/install.htm#CIHDJBJG

So i did download and installed
Windows x86 (32-bit) 78.98 MB jdk-6u31-windows-i586.exe

Now trying to Run SQL Developer and point to the Java directory, i get a new Pop up
Unable to find a Java Virtual Machine

How can I clear this ?
