New to Oracle - Insallation of 11gR2 on windows XP 32 bit PC for self study

Hi,

I am brand new to oracle and would like to install the 11gR2 client on my 32 bit Win XP personal laptop. I found the download links to the Standard edition on OTN. I plan to use this for self study at this point.

Will the client installation have its own tables and schemas , that will help me practice my SQL skills ? Or is it always required to connect to a server that has a live running database ?

If I cannot practice writing basic SQL queries with the installation of the client software on my personal laptop , there is no point installing it as I do not have access to any servers.

Please someone help out a newbie with this very basic question : Will installing the oracle 11gR2 client, help me simulate a database and run SQL queries for self study purpose without having to connect to a server?

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
