New to Oracle Designer

Hi all,
I am new to designer tool.I worked on developer 2000 for long time.So i want to switch to oracle designer.
I dont know what is the begining point and ending point in Oracle Designer.So i started the designer and clicked on Entity realtionship diagram and selected file--new- Aw indow is opened it says chosse container at drop down list its empty.Its happening for PROCESS MODELLER,DATFLOW DIAGRAM,FUNTION HIERARCHY DIAGRAM.
So can anybody help me how to proceed where to start.I gone to tutorial it i saying select file-new and select from drop down list.My drop down list is empty.How to create a container
