Hi everybody,
currently we are configuring our new OVM system and we have few questions about the the configuration of the Fibre Channel over Ethernet on the two OVM systems.
Our environment
2 x HPE Synergy 480 Gen10
2 x SAN Switch HPE / Brocade SN3000B 10 Gig / 24 Ports / FOS 8.1.2b
2 x HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8200
1. Fibre Channel over Ethernet | Port speed
[root@sklovm101 ~]# fcoeadm -i
Description: BCM57840 NetXtreme II Ethernet Multi Function
Revision: 11
Manufacturer: Broadcom Limited
Serial Number: 20677C168430
Driver: bnx2x 1.713.10
Number of Ports: 1
Symbolic Name: bnx2fc (QLogic BCM57840) v2.10.3 over eth2.3967-fcoe
OS Device Name: host4
Node Name: 0x10005A2A92700015
Port Name: 0x10005A2A92700014
FabricName: 0x100000110A0A0EED
Speed: 20 Gbit
Supported Speed: 1 Gbit, 10 Gbit
MaxFrameSize: 2048
FC-ID (Port ID): 0x01030E
State: Online
The virtual fibre channel port is connected with 8Gbit.
Our question to you is, does Oracle support this configuration?
And where can we configure the adapter speed if necessary?
2. Fibre Channel over Ethernet | MTU size
The current MTU size of the FCoE adapter on the OVM system is set to 1500. An MTU size of 9000 is recommended in the document "Oracle VM – 10GbE Network Performance Tuning".
We have no possibility to configure MTU size on SAN switche.
Can we set the FCoE MTU size on the OVM system to 9000?
Can the virtual adapter of the OVM system with the above MTU setting successfully connect to our SAN fabric?
Which configuration is supported by Oracle?
Is anybody here to support me?
Thank you very much in advance.
Greetings,
Thomas
