Negative years in dates

Srinivas A-OracleNov 4 2010 — edited Nov 4 2010
All, we have one weird issue, where we are seeing the year 2010 saved as '-2010' in a Oracle database table. I can upload a document showing the db properties, as well as NLS parameter settings, but this forum wouldn't allow. Can any one shed some light on, what could be causing this? BTW, I am an Oracle employee and this is an actual customer issue.

The NLS_DATE_FORMAT is set to DD-MON-RR. The NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT is set to 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM'. This does not happen for every insert. But only for few random inserts that happen into an Oracle table. Please help.
