I'm genetically unlucky when it comes to upgrades, so I ask the following:
I'm running OVM 3.2.6, and would like to get to 3.3.1. OVMM is running with an Oracle database as the backend, and I know that has to change. I'm wondering:
Is there anything obviously wrong with this scheme to upgrade to 3.3.1:
Build another Linux server to host OVMM 3.3.1.
Install OVMM 3.3.1 with the same UUID as my 3.2.6 version.
Shutdown OVMM 3.2.6.
Discover my 3 OVM Servers (with about a dozen VMs) from the new 3.3.1 OVMM.
Patch up whatever names and details I've lost.
Should this work?
Should all my VMs keep right on running across this "upgrade"?
Is there a better way to do it?
Then I would upgrade the OVM Servers as described in the 3.3.1 installation guide.
If you need more details:
I have one big OCFS2 repository on a FC SAN.
My VMs have several LUNs on the FC SAN.
More if you ask.
