name services individually?
snmdlaMar 23 2009 — edited Feb 7 2020dear beekeepers,
we would like to know opinions regarding the question if it is a good
idea to use several server names for the individual services, and
configure the clients appropriately, e.g.
bti.yoursite.com for OBIO access,
ical.yoursite.com for calendering clients
imap.yoursite.com for IMAP clients,
zimbra.yoursite.com for Web-based access, ...
this would give you the option to distribute those services to several
instances of beehive later on (for tuning purposes, say) without
requiring client reconfiguration.
having tried to do this, we found that, when using SSL, this requires
a certificate per name, which cannot be easily administered through
wallets, if I understand this correctly.
