MySQL Vs Oracle

126857Sep 5 2008 — edited Sep 9 2008
Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post my question. I am curious about this community's take on MySQL compared to Oracle. Googling this I find lots of references, but they dont seem to be objective. I see some posts from people migrating from MySQL here, so I thought I would ask for an objective opinion of when MySQL is a good fit and when Oracle is.

BTW, I saw posts that said Oracle 9i is now free is that true ? So instead of using MySQL could we use Oracle 9i ?. Oracle licensing is tricky to figure out. I am aware that Oracle license is free for development purpose, I am curious about production deployments.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

Vissu
