Multiple Full DBs on One RAC

Michael8773Nov 30 2016 — edited Dec 1 2016

This is gonna sound crazy but here goes . . .

Can you, should you, run multiple full databases on one 12c non-cloud RAC?

  • Yes you can have multiple schema in one database.  Not asking that.
  • Yes you can install multiple vendors products into one database.  In this instance having multiple schemas from various vendors visible in the same database.  Not asking that.
  • Not asking about creating multitenant database container DBs (not a Cloud environment).

More clearly, running the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant (dbca) against the same Oracle RAC (and SCAN name) creating multiple independent databases on a RAC each with their own SID.

Thus far in the RACs I have been working with it has only had one functional database.  If doing this with a RAC database is common - it is just new to me.

Thanks,

Michael
