Multi-terabyte data guard installation

169305Apr 28 2009 — edited Aug 5 2009
Dear all

We are planning to install a standby RAC database in our newly-built DR. The problem is :

1) DB Size is 3.5 TB
2) DC to DR distance is 5 hours flight ( door-2-door I mean )
3) DC-DR bandwidth throughput is around 100 Mb/s

I was thinking of sending the redo logs and/or archive logs to DR before any changes and then restore a hot backup after that. Another way would be to restore a backup and then take another incremental backup later on based on SCN. But I have no idea which way is better.

I'd appreciate any idea/help.

Thank you in advance.
