Multi Currency Consolidation & Elim

I have 2 entities one in GBP and one in USD. The parent is in USD. I am being told I have to set up a translation entity to convert the GBP entity to USD. Is this true? It would seem that Hyperion would just post the eliminations in the currency of the entity. It is an issue because I need the elim amount in GBP.
