MTU 9000?

HI all,

Many Oracle docs say to set the MTU to 9000 bytes for the RAC private network:

The MTU size is set to 9000 for the enablement of jumbo frames. Ensure jumbo frames are enabled on the private Ethernet switches.

However, some VM hardware seems to have issues with this changing the network bound VM interfaces if a VM node is rebooted. Jeepers!

Is MTU 9000 really required for RAC private network interfaces?
