Having been issued a new work PC I've just gone through the process of moving all my stuff across, including SQL Developer.
I would like to think that there is a smart way of doing this, but I didn't find it - instead I did multiple exports/imports, as well as copying over an xml file, in order to get most of my settings across. I think I've missed a few things but these are the main ones that I needed to bring across.
On the old machine:
1. Connections > Export Connections
2. Tools > Preferences > Data Modeler > Export
3. Take a copy of \sqldeveloper4.1.3\sqldeveloper\extensions\oracle.datamodeler\types\defaultdomains.xml
On the new machine:
1. Download & install SQL Developer (4.1.3.20) on the new machine
2. Copy defaultdomains.xml into the appropriate folder
3. Connections > Import Connections
4. Tools > Preferences > Data Modeler > Import
5. Re-set all the other preferences throughout
Surely there is a simpler way? When you upgrade SQL Developer on the same machine, it gives the opportunity to migrate all the settings across. There should be a similar method to move from one machine to another.
Thanks
