We are moving our servers from VMWare hosted at a datacenter to virtual servers at AWS, We are on Oracle 11.2.0.3 and currently are not running Grid Infrastructure, (Oracle restart as they are all standalone servers). We are not planning a RAC install. What is the advantage of installing GI and using ASM for the databases, when we're using SSD disks. We have planned 1 server, 1 instance for our QA and Production servers, development servers could be more than one instance on a server. So far all databases are under 1TB each.
