move old log files to archive location

Neo-bJun 23 2012 — edited Jun 25 2012
Hello All,

I am using Oracle 11gR2 on AIX 7.1, I am planing to move my old logs to an archive folder.

i have few questions in this context:

Is there any disadvantages if I moved old files (.trc and .trm )from $ORACLE_BASE/diag/rdbms/db_name/db_name/trace to an archive location? is there any side effect on my database?
Can I move part (for old days / date -30 /) of my alert log to another file in the archive folder? is there any side effect on my database?

at the end: is it obligatory to apply the above ? can the logs generate sizing issue after years??

Regards,
