mariog_absi-JavaNetSep 11 2014 — edited Sep 11 2014

hello

I have a database running on a solaris zones on a sparc server Sun-Fire-V445.

the database needs to be moved to the cloud, namely a solaris x86 virutal machine.

the size of the datafiles in 22G. I wish to have as little downtime as possible.

hot backup is not an option because of hardware architecture.

rman is it possible the database version is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production?

the db is archivelog mode and I have daily rman backups

does transportable tablespaces or datafile require downtime.. can i concert an rman backup to little endian and restore that in the new db?

I have yet to decide if keep oracle 10 or move to oracle 11g.

what will the best way to move the database?

how can I create a database with exactly the same parameters.. is it possible to create a database using and a pfile or spfile? if so how could I proceed.

thanks

Mario
