Hello,
I'm looking at ways to modernise our Oracle estate, which at present is based upon VMware ESX running live and dev clusters, both 3-way, dual socket servers, each socket housing a 4-core CPU. So, each 3-way cluster has 8+8+8 licensable processors = 24 * the Intel 0.5 core-fact is a 12 CPU license requirement. The Live cluster runs just 19 VM's and the dev cluster runs 29 VM's.
Does anyone on the forum have a view on cost-effective alternatives? - I have to replace these end of life ESX machines quite soon, and wonder if we might consider the Oracle OVM solution, or some cloud based alternative. Can anyone offer advice here?
Thanks, Peter
