Model subtypes/supertypes

Can anyone direct me to links/examples of how the data modeler can be used to model overlapping subtypes eg. a supertype of EMPLOYEE with subtypes of say MANAGER, ENGINEER. I'm happy enough with disjoint subtypes but getting a little lost with overlapping.
