modal popup page template for chrome?

Hi Everyone, the showmodal popup does not work in chrome. There is a plugin like skillbuilders that requires the region etc to be on the same page as a popup. However, in our application, we have popups in some pages that open another page as a popup (modal). Wondering if there is away we can duplicate the popup page template and make it a modal type template ? Is this possible? Has anyone maybe done this?
