MMON freaking?

The MMON process is giving me trouble as it is hogging a lot of my CPU, sometimes 100% at intermittant times (I deduced this from the 'top' command on my linux box and through 'ps -ef' I found it was the MMON).

I've read metalink docs and they suggested to disable collection of statistics but it was useless..

what do you suggest?
