Missing message file?

KiwiAndrewJan 4 2012 — edited Jan 5 2012
I asked a question regarding this back in June, but seem to have let it slide, so rather than revive an old thread:

I get many messages when Oracle XE starts up saying "The description for Event ID 5 from source Oracle.xe cannot be found"

The same occurs for ids 34 and 4.

There is a registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\Oracle.xe\EventMessageFile" which points to "C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\BIN\ORAEVRUS11.DLL" but this file does not exist, nor can I locate it anywhere.

It would appear to have been missing since I installed XE, although it is possible I removed some component (e.g. Instant Client, although that was in a separate path) which may have included it.

Should the file have been installed? Can I get a copy of it from Oracle website somewhere (had a look but couldn't find it)?

This is on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 32-bit (to answer the questions I left unanswered previously).

Any hints?

Andrew
