Migration of Database instances from one server to another

Hi All,

I have been asked to migrate the database instances from one server to another.

I have installed the oracle software on the new server. Now i need to move the database
instances from the old machine to the new one.

This is what i am thinking to do:

1) TAKE A COLD BACKUP
2) BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE
3) COPY THE FILES TO THE NEW SERVER
4) CREATE THE INSTANCE FROM THE BACKED UP CONTROLFILE
5) RELEASE THE MACHINE TO USERS AFTER ALSO COPYING TNSNAMES.ORA ETC

Please let me know if this sounds good or if there is a better approach then this
