Migration from sun solaris to Linux

Hello Experts/guru's

I have to migrate the oracle 9i database which is on sun solaris to Linux machine . The size of the database is approax 4.5TB .
Through i was planning to upgrade it to 10g/11g and then further migrate on Linux using cross-platform technique , but i was not suppose to do i.e, upgradation ( as per the instruction given) . The only option left with me is export/import, but this will be too slow process .

Can u Kindly suggest some other possibilities using RMAN and some other methods .
