We have 3 x 11gR2 instances running on a single AIX server. We are splitting the instances onto 3 separate servers. We are using Oracle ORDS as the APEX platform, so no separate web servers are involved. We are moving to Oracle 12 in the process. How easy will it be, or what is the process, to ensure a seamless Apex migration from one server to another?
I am concerned we don’t have a lot of Apex experience in the DBA team, and suspect it isn’t straightforward. The old and new servers will be operating in parallel for a while.
Any advice, or links to migration documentation appreciated. It’s easy for them to migrate the DB schemas, my concerns are around just spinning up Apex/ORDS and expecting it all to just work. There may be Apex version conflicts for example (not sure yet).
Maybe it’s a case of getting Apex/ORDS operational and then doing a workspace export and import? As long as all the parsing schemas are migrated, it will then all work.
