Migrate from GPFS to ASM. Is it worth it?

We have several 10.2.0.3 RAC clusters deployed using GPFS 2.3 as our storage for the database datafiles.

We are considering migrating from GPFS to ASM. However, it seems as though ASM will add a lot more burden on the DBA staff.

Can anyone detail the value add for migrating from GPFS to ASM? Is it worth the effort and added administration? Any performance comparisons would also be greatly appreciated.
