Migrate asm diskgroups to another san: Should number of disks (lun's) on new san be equal to the num

GeertSFeb 15 2016 — edited Feb 22 2016

Hi all,

I'm planning to migrate the ASM diskgroup(s) from a NetApp Filer to a HP 3par system.

I have a ASM diskgroup "data" with 4 disks of 50GB.The new disk from the 3Par is 250GB in size and is visible on both rac nodes.

Can i simply add this new disk to the diskgroup, rebalance, and the drop the 4 old disks?

Or should the number of new disks be equal to the number of disks already present in the diskgroup ?

Regards

Geert
