Microsoft ODBC for Oracle vs. Oracle ODBC Driver

I have a similar post in this forum but have come across something else.

I have a MS Access application that has attached tables from an Oracle database. Previously the Oracle database was version 8. Since I have upgraded to Oracle 10.2.0.1 and the corresponding client software accessing somewhat large tables (50,000 + records) from the MS Access front-end has become slower than before. I have found if I use the Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle access is much faster. I'm not sure I really want to use the MS driver because if have read it has not been updated.

Any ideas on what might be going on?
