Metalink credentials sign in fails

I'm trying to set up the "Patching Setup" for my OEM10g grid control 10.2.0.4.0

The Proxy setting works fine but when I enter my credentials in the "MetaLink & Patching Settings" tab I get the following error message
"Oracle MetaLink authorization failed. - Check the spelling of your username and retype the password, making sure that caps lock is off"

I know that the username and password is correct because I can login directly to metalink from my browser.

the default patch URL is: http://updates.oracle.com

I heard that it might be different depending on the version of oms. Does anyone know if this is the right URL? If it is what am I missing?
