Metadata load "unspecified error"

While trying to load metadata changes into our system, it seems that all the steps are completed successfully but once it gets to the last step we receive an unspecified error. We have been rebooting the HFM application server to resolve this issue, but there needs to be a more flexible solution as this impacts us heavily taking outages during our month end close periods. Does anyone have any insight as to why this error may be occurring or does anyone else experience this issue?
