Memory utilization using prtmem.

I am running prtmem to get System Memory Summary. Following is output from prtmem..

Total memory: 7966 Megabytes
Kernel Memory: 262 Megabytes
Application: 2337 Megabytes
Executable & libs: 88 Megabytes
File Cache: 5185 Megabytes
Free, file cache: 124 Megabytes
Free, free: 0 Megabytes

Why file Cache is 5.1GB?? How we can reduce that?? Why it taking lots of Memory??
