memory_target and sga_target

Our database is 11g2 on Redhat 52. I have a question on the new 11g parameter memory_target and the old sga_target. I understand that if memory_target is set, sga and pga will be automatic managed and optimized. Then do I need to set sga_target. What restrictions and recommendations in setting sga_target when memory_target is set?
