mapping ifs folders tonetwork drivve

Hi,
I have 9ifs 9.0.2.0.0 intalled in linux box.I am connecting to that linux box remotely from my local machine through VPN.

I installed the 9iFS utilities in my local machine and when map my local drive using
\\<servername>\public then enter 9iFS administrator username and password I am not authenticated.
Is it that 9iFS username/password should be an operating system user also.
