Making oracle column based

movilogoMar 20 2009 — edited Oct 30 2009
We are aware that databases like Sybase IQ/Vertica etc. outperform Oracle in large read only data warehouse queries.

This is due to the fact those databases store data in columnar form rather than Oracle's row based architecture.

But what happens if we insert data as transposed in Oracle - so that column in logical table inserted as physical rows in Oracle blocks?

Can I simulate column based architecture in Oracle then?
