Making JRE 1.5.0 to pipe sound thru ALSA instead of OSS

843798Oct 31 2005 — edited Dec 6 2005
Ok, here's the biggest problem I encounter. I run a fair amount of Java applications: FrostWire, Mercury Messenger, Azureus and such. Yet, when I want to play a sound file from them, it always get block, so I never know if the program comes up with errors that uses sound to warn me. OSS doesn't have software mixing and that's a real pain. The newer kernel soundsystem has software mixing called ALSA, but it seems that the JRE isn't piping sound thru ALSA, but is most likely piping sound thru OSS.

O, and I'm running JRE on SuSE Linux 10.0
