Making a .dat or .txt report to prompt Save File

264906Aug 4 2003 — edited Aug 8 2003
Hi,

I have recently upgraded from Forms/Reports 5 to 6i. We have a report that produces a character delimited text file as a .dat. In Reports 5 it used to prompt the user to save the file to their local PC. Now in Reports 6i it just displays the file contents (text) in a new browser window. If you then save the details to a file and import it into excel, it produces a blank line between each record, which is rather annoying.

I checked to see if anyone else has encountered this, but couldn't find anything. I have played with the phyout and virout settings for the application, but that didn't seem to help much. I was wondering if it is something to do with the database's environment settings, the webserver, or a forms/reports option?

We are using Forms/Reports 6i on Solaris using an Apache web server and Jinitiator 1.1.8.7 on Netscape.

Any ideas/suggestions please.

Michelle
