Mainframe connect to Oracle in UNIX (outside box)

986021Jan 28 2013 — edited Feb 11 2013
We are in the process of migration Mainframe COBOL/IMS database to COBOL/Oracle. We will be connecting to Oracle instance outside of mainframe instead of IMS from the COBOL programs.

1.Is there are any performance degradation when a mainframe BATCH (COBOL) or CICS transaction is trying to connect to ORACLE in UNIX outside box.

2. Are there any performance bottleneck

3. Any benchmark studies that was done incomparison to mainframe cobol/vsam workload

3. What could be some of the forseeable challenges and tunings that we need to do apart from application.

Any thoughts/ideas?
