MAF: display today's date()

Hello:

I am looking to display a welcome feature that displays a greeting, current date & logo pic-> then fades to the next feature in 1-2 seconds. How would YOU get this done? Does the current date & time need to be sent to the UI View from a JavaBean or does MAF have a solution?
